Inquiry-based learning is a teaching method that encourages students to ask questions and investigate real-world problems. At AIPS we believe that our learners will be critical thinkers when they ask questions.
In anticipation of this Inquiry Fair, a project was designed and a country was designated to each learner where they had to find out its national fruit, animal, flag and bird. This whole event was solely based on the SDG goal we were following for the month - Life On Land. The facilitators prepared the learners for this day using the exact method of inquiry. To celebrate the Inquiry Fair, we invited parents of the Junior and Senior K.G. in batches of 5.
On 09th December 2022 the inquiry fair day began with our daily assembly in the respective classrooms. The facilitators had decorated the classrooms based on their theme. The Junior K.G. theme was Birds and Senior K.G. prepared on the theme of Transport. As the parents entered they were first seated in the Nursery classroom where they were welcomed with an action song by the learners accompanied by Sr. Sandra Fernandes. After the action song the learners moved to their respective classrooms and got ready for the parents. Ms. Abigail Tixeira then gave the parents a brief understanding of Inquiry Fair and what to expect. The parents then moved to the classes where the learners did their presentation; each table had 3 learners seated who asked a question each to the parents. The table had images of that particular question. As the parents answered a question the learners rewarded them with a star. After the parents had completed all the 5 tables the learners and the Home Room facilitator thanked them for their presence. The parents were then directed towards the exhibitions of the SDG project on countries. Ms. Danica Machado captured their candid moments in the camera as they shared their thoughts in short clippings. As they proceeded to exit a feedback corner was set up with feedback book of both the classes.
This event indeed was the one to experience. It also gave our learners a boost of confidence as every parent who entered congratulated them and encouraged them for their efforts.
